The Godrej Group has reaffirmed its commitment to developing land in Mumbai's Vikhroli area through a continued partnership between Godrej & Boyce and Godrej Properties. This collaboration is part of a strategic ownership realignment within the Godrej Companies, allowing both entities to leverage their strengths in urban development and sustainability.

Partnership Details

The Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) between Godrej & Boyce, the landowner and developer, and Godrej Properties will facilitate the development of approximately 1,000 acres of land in Vikhroli, which is valued at around Rs 1 lakh crore. This partnership is designed to create a harmonious blend of urban living and biodiversity, reflecting the Godrej Group's commitment to sustainable development.

Previous Successes in Vikhroli

The synergy between Godrej Construction, a division of Godrej & Boyce, and Godrej Properties has previously resulted in successful projects in Vikhroli. Notably, the Godrej Platinum residential development project, which consists of four phases and encompasses a total constructed area of 1 million sq ft, was marketed by Godrej Properties. The recent launch of Godrej Vistas under this partnership further exemplifies their collaborative efforts in the region.

The Godrej Group's land in Vikhroli is historically significant, having been acquired in the 1940s during World War II. The property, initially granted to a Parsee merchant by the East India Company in the 1830s, has been expanded through negotiations with over 200 neighbouring landowners. Additionally, the land includes ecologically sensitive mangroves, which were recognized as India's first ISO 14001 forest in 1997, underscoring the importance of environmental stewardship in the development plans.
